Often its cause is considered to be unknown, but it is theorized to be caused by infection, obstruction, reflux, or autoimmune disease. Chronic prostatitis also falls under the heading of chronic pelvic pain syndrome or CPPS. Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome = unexplained chronic pain in the pelvis. Often chronic pelvic pain syndrome is caused by prostatitis. Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) = enlargment of the prostate gland with age. Prostate cancer = a frequent cancer in men. Treatments for prostate cancer are often misleadingly advertised, especially prostate cancer surgery. |
